THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM   04 February 2009

"The only thing preventing lawmakers from seeking an exemption from the

law of gravity is the fact that they would have to violate the 'separation of church and state' to pray for it"   H. Hyde

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and worked last weekend's soccer tournament.

With respect to soccer, if you sign up, please show up or contact Willie Elizandro when you cannot serve.

Make every effort to get dues up to date.  Several Members are behind in payments, and Jim Kelly encouraged us to send those in ASAP.  Thanks!

Rick Scott is collecting Club resources, material, etc. from Bob and Pat Carl prior to their move to Arizona.

Our speaker, Scott Yielding, was introduced by Cary Gaines.  Sgt. Yielding was this year's Service to Mankind Award winner.  First, he reviewed development of the Police Athletic League (PAL) in our community, and advances since that time.  All programs offered through PAL are free to youth who participate.  He also shared statistical evidence of decreases in juvenile crime and arrests, since PAL and the Boys and Girls Club, and NLR Parks and Recreation have been working jointly to provide positive summer services for kids.  This group has continued to expand, with involvement of hundreds of young people.  Sgt. Yielding then took time to answer questions.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK!
